Svalbard, Canada, Russie.
Eglinton fjord, Nunavut, Canada. Very early this morning, the landscape put me upside down. In my visor it’s like in a kaleidoscope. With my single eye awake, I watch the symetrical paterns of a rocky mountain behind this bear walking on the edge of the mirror. My second eye still closed avoid me to cross the line of awakening, between dream and reality.
Spitzbergen, Svalbar, Norway. Along the edge of sea ice, our ship is waiting. Engine off. This young and curious polar bear saw us from very far, and came to visit us, in case he will find a partner to play with… That magical moment when you dive in the eyes of the wild, and the only sound you can ear is the breathing of a polar bear… I’ve forgot to breath myself.
Wrangle Island, Cap Waring, Russia. Celebrating day on the island, guests are gathering on the beach. Two clans of equal strenght, walruses and polar bears, are sharing the fest site. Neither friends nor enemies, but still rivals, one of the two families is taking advantage of the death of a member from the opposite group to have a good dinner. We bite the flesh, laugh and shout, take pieces of meat, the sea is splashing… What an honnor to be invited at the Kings table! ——————— This scenary is really impressive, but with other words, it’s also really sad to see so many polar bears in the same place, because there is no more ice in the noth of bering strait, they can’t leave the island where they came to mate…
